Greece is the fourth cheapest European holiday destination this May, according to a survey by online travel agency Trivago.
Despite an increase of 14.1% on the average online price per night for a double-bed hotel room to 89 euros compared to 78 euros on May 2013, Greece still ranks among the cheapest European destinations behind Bulgaria, where a double-bed room averages 54 euros, Romania with 66 euros and Poland, where a twin room costs 69 euros.
The most expensive of the 24 surveyed destinations in Europe are Denmark with an average price of 168 euros for a double room and Norway at 156 euros per night.
Düsseldorf-based Trivago is an online metasearch engine comparing prices for more than 600,000 hotels on more than 140 booking websites. It has some 18 million users per month on its 30 international platforms.
